MARK CHAPTER 8 STUDY QUESTIONS After performing a series of miracles, Jesus quizzed his disciples on the rumors surrounding his identity. Some people were saying he was a prophet; others claimed he was the spirit of one of God’s servants who had passed away. Most importantly, Jesus wanted to know who his followers believed him to be. Peter answered Jesus with a simple but profound declaration of his faith: He believed Jesus was the One the Scriptures had foretold, the Messiah, God’s Anointed King. Mark 7:24 – 8:30 REVIEW 1. If you could assume any person’s identity, living or dead, who would it be and why? 2. Who did Jesus heal in this passage? (7:24-8:26) 3. (8:29) APPLICATION 1. How were Jesus’ instructions to some of the people in this passage an attempt to conceal his identity? How well did that work? 2. Why was it more significant for the disciples to have a proper understanding of who Jesus was? 3. How do you think the majority of people today would answer Jesus’ question: “Who do you say that I am?” 4. What factors shape a person’s understanding of Jesus Christ? 5.
