MAS To Set Up Command Centre In Kelantan, Vietnam KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will set up a command centre at Kota Baru, Malaysia or Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam as soon as the location of the aircraft is established and the airline will make the necessary arrangements. In a statement at 9.30am today, MAS said the airline was continuously working with the authorities in providing assistance. “In fearing for the worst, a disaster recovery management specialist from Atlanta, USA will be assisting Malaysia Airlines in this crucial time,” it said. It said more than 24 hours after the lost of contact with Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370, the search and rescue teams were still unable to detect the whereabouts of the missing aircraft. It added that the airline was doing its utmost to provide support to the affected family members, including immediate financial aid. “The airline has deployed a team of 94 caregivers consisting of well-trained staff and also Tzu Chi Foundation members to provide emotional support to the families. “The airline will also be deploying another set of caregivers to Beijing later today. “Last night, a Malaysia Airlines’ Senior Management team arrived at Beijing to address the media and met with family members. “They also met families of affected passengers in Kuala Lumpur,” it said. The MH370, carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew, was reported missing somewhere between Malaysian and Vietnamese airspace over the South China Sea at 2.40 am. The B777-200 aircraft had left Kuala Lumpur at 12.41 am and was scheduled to land in Beijing at 6.30 am. It lost contact with the Subang Air Traffic Control at 2.40 am.
