MATT NASH June 28, 2013 Won’t back down Lebanon’s rivals are entrenched in opposing positions meaning no government will be formed any time soon With Ramadan scheduled to start in just over a week’s time, Lebanon is likely to stay government-less at least until the end of the holy month, if not longer. The country’s rival political coalitions are sticking firmly to polar opposite demands, and despite repeated rumors of rays of hope waiting to shine from around the corner, Prime Minister designate Tammam Salam is facing an impossible task. News reports suggest Salam has shopped around a few different proposals for what the next government will look like, but each hit a brick wall. Early on in his mission (which began shortly after Najib Miqati resigned in late March), Salam was allegedly proposing a “de-facto” cabinet of neutral figures. https://now.mmedia.me/lb/en/reportsfeatures/wont-back-down
