MAXIMUM EXPOSURE WEEKEND TALENT SHOWCASE: With your host Bruce Hawes, Composer’s Featured Article: ~ The Real Story Of Rena Sinakin ~ BH wrote: It is well known that Rena Sinakin and I have a longstanding friendship. She is family. In every family there are rivalries, good times, and bad ones too. We have had our moments of disagreements but it has never come between us loving each other as brother and sister. Rena has a great creative background. She went to college at Pennsylvania Academy of The Fine Arts where she learned to perfect her sketch-art skills and talent. After leaving college, Rena moved to “The Village” in New York City where she met many of our mutual friends; the late Ritchie Havens, The Beatles, legendary folk singer, Kenny Rankin, Actor: Lou Gossett Jr., Attorney: The late Johanan Vagoda, and many of the legends of the entertainment industry. She has created classic portrait sketches of many historical individuals of the entertainment industry including, Stevie Wonder’s longtime manager: Johanan Vagoda and the great Ahmet Ertegün, the founder of Atlantic Records. Rena is a singer/songwriter who is also the producer of two solo albums on herself, and many recordings on other artists. Her discography includes being the Executive Producer of McFadden & Whitehead’s followup to their hit-album: “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now,” on @Philadelphia International Records, entitled “MOVIN” on Capitol Records. Years before, Rena Sinakin and I teamed up to produce this featured music on the last album together entitled: “The One And The Only Gladys Knight & The Pips” on Buddha Records. Rena’s first album featured a lovely song entitled: “I’m Sorry Darling,” that was released on Capitol Records. And her second solo album, “Make Music,” was on Atlantic Records. In the 80’s she owned and managed a recording studio in Cherry Hill, New Jersey where she worked with many unsung great artists. Even I had briefly agreed to bolster her studio’s creditability by agreeing to sign a short-term working agreement with her but working with Stevie Wonder was in my immediate future then, and I had to move on to where I was most needed, co-founding a Rock Band named: “The Myx.” Although I had left Philadelphia and had moved to California, it did not really matter because Rena never stopped or slowed down. She just kept forging onward towards her own personal goals. That is when McFadden & Whitehead joined her in Cherry Hill and they all made great music together. When her longtime friend, John Lennon was killed on the streets of new York City, she teamed up with Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff’s Philadelphia International Records, and produced a tribute version of John’s classic song: “IMAGINE” with his band performing the song as an instrumental in Sigma Sound Studios located in New York City. This song has finally been released on, Gary Van Scyoc , the bass player, and the band’s leader’s new album. In recent years Rena Sinakin has been a Fund-Raiser, event-producer for the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village in the African country of Rwanda. Two of my close friends, Melba Moore and Cuba Gooding, Jr.s father, Cuba Gooding, have both performed at two different fund raising events for the African youth village that were held in New York City. Rena Sinakin has always been an enthusiastic, and a passionate creative person. And her contributions to the arts now spans many decades. She is still vibrant and active in our industry. Many people have been touched by her love of music. Yes, even “I’ve Been Saved By The Grace Of Your Love.” So I feel good about doing this featured article for such a deserving and notable person such as you, Rena Sinakin. Because, this is “The Real Story Of Rena Sinakin” that I know well. And I can honestly state that I was a witness of her career unfolding and blossoming before the eyes of the world … Proudly written by: Bruce Hawes, Composer Of Words Of Interest.
