MAY 10 - 11 The Art Of Story Telling Documentary Photography Workshop Commencing: 10 May & 11 May 2014 (Saturday & Sunday) Time: 1pm to 6pm Venue: 30 Selegie Road, Selegie Arts Centre Duration: 2 lessons, 5 hours per lesson Fees: $200 (member) $300 (non-member) This 2-day workshop by Thomas Tham is for photographers and amateurs who want to take their photography to the next level. It concentrates on the aesthetic and technical aspects of documentary photography with emphasis on the art of storytelling. It is designed to help photographers develop a personal eye, and to leave feeling inspired. This 10 hours class is an overview of how to shoot a picture story or story essay. A lifetime story-teller, Thomas Tham breaks down the elements of how top tell a picture story. Thomas will share some of his favourite shoots and stories from exhibitions, magazine, books . This photography class is for: Serious or amateur photographers who would like more ideas of how and what to shoot, whether it is recording a family event, shooting your kids sporting event, or just having more fun taking pictures. Photographers who would like to know how to capture the moment at chaotic situation. Those working in volunteer welfare organizations, working in areas such as, Health and Development, Events Coverage, Conflict Resolutions, and Civil Rights, to convey their message What are covered? Technical discussions will focus on how to use photographic tools in real-world scenarios to capture atmosphere and mood, while ,maintaining a sense of place. Approach subjects and establish trust in order to photograph people in an intimate fashion. Use form, lighting and color in a sophisticated manner to communicate emotionally as well as editorially. Balance a personal point of view while respecting a subjects situation; and use focused editing to reveal a storys essential truth.
