MBAUMBAU It took me a whole semester to discover the chaplaincy; having missed the orientation and again being naïve from the village (where I am regarded a hero), it must have been a remarkable achievement. I have witnessed tremendous growth in my life and I can say without exaggeration that St. Paul’s gave me the best platform to discover myself. The insatiable desire to grow in faith by understanding His ways has greatly nourished my spiritual life. I still recall the days we used to attend catechism classes together with John Kuria, Eduu and Malii and later received the sacrament of confirmation. I realized the Scripture is the best reference book. I will live to reminisce 17thNov2012 and !8th Nov 2013 when I shone in Bible trivias from the books of Hosea and James respectively. I strongly believe it’s not necessarily cramming the verses/chapters but I just admire enriching myself with Knowledge and Wisdom and surprisingly, the information has always nailed itself automatically in my head. I rem the days I used to sit back in YCS meetings and listen to intelligentsias exchange their brains; I first noted Alloys Mila, the professional argumentator. I admire his oratorical excellence and the way he locks syllables into mouthfuls of indigestibles. Having grown up in an environment where conversing in English was an abomination, I couldn’t express myself and I feared participating in open discussions. I thank God my esteem has grown since then and now I can comfortably express my mind devoid of fear but with unshakable confidence. Sir Munywoki, his octopus acrobatics and impeccable expertise in IT is an inarguable fact that he’s a great man. Whenever I say, “Mbau is always smiling”, I usually mean it. The invaluable friends I have gained out of being intimately involved in the affairs of St. Paul’s reminds me of a strong family and gives me a deep sense of belonging. I was phobic to hugging in the first days in campus but wait until I met Professor Okeyo with whom we shared BS in my 2nd and 3rd years. Right now, I have become addicted to hugging and no wonder you’ll always spot MbauMbau in H.Ps or in ‘escortological’ missions to Stella and Women’s hall. The magical moments we shared in the trips esp in 4th year can’t be erased from my mind. The famous Ugunja mission was a major turning point in my life and only God knows why. Kudos to the mission team# The Kitale trip was equally amazing! I have had an opportune time to traverse the beautiful metropolis of Siaya, Busia, Trans-Nzoia counties among others. Hata Eldoret, nshapitia and I shall return. The co-business of joining campus was to learn but I hold the opinion that it was only an achievement because it’s where I came to learn there’s a home away from home. A place you get to learn about rare skills at no fee. My 4 years have flown. I have a feeling that I have made tremendous strides in life and I can’t therefore regret why I was matriculated to this mighty institution. Alongside my degree in BSC(Chemistry), I have gained a treasure; a treasure worthier than the time spent searching for it….I don’t feel like I am losing anything by leaving campus; I have accomplished my task and I know greater things are on the way. I have realized that by involving God in all your plans you are always guaranteed of success.
