MBUM FESTIVAL OF ARTS AND CULTURE.(FESTAC 2014) VISION. The wimbum community has 33 villages and is considered the biggest tribe in the North West Region so far.Unfortunately these 33 villages have over the past years lived as a diverse people though sharing the same cultural,economic and socio political heritage. In a bid to unite these people and inculcate the culture of peace,Unity and development,the Ndu council in partnership with the Nkambe council and Wimbum cultural development Association(WICUDA),is organising this grand event from December 28-30 at Ndu.. OBJECTIVE. Our dream as a common people with a unique cultural heritage, is to reunite under a common umbrella through Mbum FESTAC. The Mbum tribe has witnessed a great deal of hatred, blackmail and witchcraft orchestrated by political hatred and power struggle among clans and the political elite. Mbum FESTAC is therefore the right activity at the right time to reinstate our unique values. Stakeholders, Roles and Responsibilities. We are primarily thinking of WICUDA(and all its structures); the Fons and sub chiefs, the Mbum councils (Nkambe and Ndu); The ministry of Arts and culture, The ministry of Tourism, The Ministry of Small and Medium Size Enterprises, The Ministry of Agriculture ,The CBC Health Board, The Peace & Justice Commission of Kumbo Diocese, The Hericulture Foundation c/o Dr. Tangem, Orange, MTN, CDC, NEXTEL, Mbum Elite, Diaspora and Friends etc. WICUDA will help mobilize and sensitize the population within and without the Mbumland. It will also assist in raising funds for the event. It shall bw involved in all the planning and organizational aspects etc. The Traditional rulers shall mobilize their subjects and groups that will indicate their willingness and participation at the Festival. The Nkambe and Ndu councils shall be in charge of the event’s planning and organization. They shall lobby for assistance from various ministries, embassies, companies and well wishers. They shall be the principal sponsor of the event. ACTICITIES Other Major Commemorative activities marking the Festival shall include but not limited to _Cultural dance competition. _Cultural dance display ,njuh, mbaya, nfuh, judah , njang, toh, samba, mndong, etc _Traditional regalia display. _Work of Art display. _Sporting activities. Race ( at Rtu Lunga , Mboya-LUH) and friendly football encounter ( between Nkambe and Ndu). _Agro pastoral show ( by Ndu Council exclusively) _paper presentation on political reconciliation in Donga Mantung by Tata Kwawi Mbinglo and others ; Improving the economic viability of Donga mantung by Dr. Susungi if available etc; Mbum History and Need for true Unity by Dr. Kevin Ngwang Gumne; The Mineral Prowess of Donga Mantung by….( others to indicate) _ Debate topics in line with this topic could be raised. The occasion shall also serve as an avenue for guest speakers to educate the public on health related issues, telecommunication, environmental and business potentials in the area. Youth empowerment programs and orientation will also be introduced to the youths. The event organizers also hope to organize an Economic Forum where experts will discuss Mbum economy and prospects for growth, restraints and the way forward. With our potentials only such a forum can give us the opportunity to think and grow economically. Burning issues like the Ebola virus and the Boko Haram attacks will also be at the center of discussion.
