MCC hosted our 3rd Annual Regional Mine Rescue Skills Competition today at the Mine Emergency Response Academy (MERA) located on School Avenue in Madisonville. Eleven teams competed in the competition consisting of mine rescue, fire hose management, smoke training, first aid, and preliminaries (written test, breathing apparatus, and gas testing). The top 3 teams from this event are eligible to compete in the 2014 Nationwide Mine Rescue Skills Championship held at the Mining Technology and Training Center in Ruff Creek, PA on October 6-10, 2014.
