MCGILL STUDENTS: Vote against the motion calling for SSMUs condemnation of Israel Wednesday October 22in the SSMU building. On Wednesday October 22, a motion calling for SSMU’s condemnation of Israel for a plethora of reasons will be introduced at the General Assembly. This motion ignores the fact that the situation in the Middle East is multidimensional and extremely divisive. Moreover, this motion fails to recognize the other players and human rights abusers in this conflict, most notably Hamas. We must act together to ensure that our community remains a positive space for all students. It is the job of the Students’ Society to foster an environment conducive to academic integrity, dialogue, and trust between students. If this resolution passes, the McGill University will witness an unprecedented polarization that will isolate and marginalize staff, students, and faculty of McGill. In this light, we ask that you join us in voting against this resolution. Please invite your friends. Enough is enough. We will not stand for tactics of fear and hate.
