MCHENRY POLICE INVESTIGATE ATTEMPTED BANK ROBBERY On Tuesday afternoon December 3rd, 2013 at approximately 12:15 p.m., the McHenry Police responded to the First National Bank of McHenry, located at 612 S. IL. Route 31 for the report of a robbery. Officers arrived on the scene, secured the area and confirmed that an attempted robbery had just occurred. The offender is described as a male/white, 5’9” – 5’11” in height, with a medium build. He is described as wearing dark blue or black pants, black jacket with a white or grey hooded sweater shirt underneath, black hat, red bandana over his face, sunglasses and white shoes. The offender entered into the bank and approached the teller counter. He displayed what appeared to be a handgun. The offender then left the bank without obtaining any money. The offender fled the scene on foot. No injuries were reported during the course of the incident. The McHenry Police are asking for the assistance of the community in identifying the offender of this crime. Anyone with information about this crime or recognition of the subject in the photo is asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Division of the McHenry Police Department at 815-363-2599. The robbery investigation is ongoing and evidence collected from the scene will be examined. No offender has been taken into custody and no suspect has been identified as of the date of this release.
