MD: Community Living Coordinator Community Living Coordinator (12-months) Goucher College, a selective liberal arts college located twenty minutes north of Baltimore and the first college in the nation to require undergraduate students to study abroad, seeks qualified applicants for the position of community living coordinator (CLC). The Department of Community Living is committed to providing high quality administrative services and educational programs that foster a supportive living and learning environment for 1,200 resident students. Reporting to the director of community living, the community living coordinator provides support, programming, information, counseling, and referrals to the general student population, specifically to several residence halls and the community assistant staff therein. In addition, the CLC position supports/advises multicultural programs and organizations. The CLC will be responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating community assistants in two to four residence halls; being highly visible and available in the residence halls and campus in general, by maintaining regular office hours; assisting and supervising student staff in developing, implementing, and evaluating residence hall educational and social programs; advising students, mediating conflicts, and making referrals to appropriate on- and off-campus agencies for specialized assistance; and following-up on resident concerns. The CLC will also participate in administrative functions for the department, including the room selection process, vandalism reduction efforts and related programming, security and fire prevention efforts and related programming, damage billing, facility inspections, and serving as a liaison with facilities management personnel. The coordinator will assist with aspects of conduct administration as needed; participate in on-call rotation and respond to and provide assistance with emergencies/crisis situations; serve as a resource and representative of the college, the division, and the department at college-sponsored programs; and assist in the development of such programs, as appropriate. Qualified applicants will have a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree in student personnel, higher education, counseling or other related field strongly preferred); at least one year of experience working in a residential life environment; some experience with on-call/duty rotation and crisis intervention in emergency situations; excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as strong problem-resolution skills; a demonstrated value for multiculturalism; and experience serving and working with a diverse student population. The salary range is very competitive. The successful candidates must have at least two years of driving experience on a state-issued license and will be subject to a background check as a condition of employment.
