MDC-T claims intimidation: The MDC–T has expressed concern over the arrest of the party’s Deputy National Chairman, Mr Morgan Komichi, saying it is intimidation ahead of the harmonised polls. Addressing journalists in Harare, the MDC-T National Organising Secretary, Mr Nelson Chamisa said the arrest of Mr Komichi is clear demonstration of the harassment of his party by the Zimbabwe Republic Police. Mr Chamisa said Mr Komichi has no case to answer as he only surrendered ballot papers from the special voting exercise found in a dustbin to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) and the police should question the electoral body on the issue. Meanwhile, the ZRP has dismissed as false, allegations that they are harassing the MDC-T leadership, saying Mr Komichi is expected to assist in investigations into the matter. Police arrested Mr Komichi over the ballot papers from the special voting exercise that were allegedly found in a dustbin. On 25 July 2013, Mr Komichi approached the ZEC Chief Elections Officer to hand over an envelop with special vote ballot papers allegedly picked by an unidentified person from a rubbish dustbin.
