MDDA Truck Rules SAFETY: (All safety rules in the Full size car rules apply in all other classes) All glass; including: windshield, head lights, tail lights, mirrors, etc. must be removed. Vehicle must be swept clean of all dirt and loose pieces. MUST HAVE DONE BEFORE VEHICLE INSPECTION!! Battery MUST be moved to the passenger floor, cow bar or passenger seat, covered and securely mounted. ALL carpet, headliner, and interior trim panels must be removed. Stock gas tank MUST be removed; Fuel tank/cell may be place in the cab on passenger seat/floor area, or in bed area. ALL fuel lines running through the drivers compartment must be double lined (EXAMPLE: fuel line ran through heater hose). If mounted in bed, it must be mounted to fuel tank protector that is bolted or welded to frame and cage. (see cage rules) NO PLASTIC FUEL TANKS MAY BE USED IF MOUNTED IN BED. FUEL TANKS MAY NOT BE BOLTED TO THE BED!! NUMBER SIGNS ARE REQUIRED TO BE MOUNTED ON TOP OF VEHICLES. VEHICLE: Any year Truck,(std. cab, ext. cab, Crew cab with short bed ONLY) Vans, or Suburban/Yukon/Full Size Blazer (Blazers MUST have roof over driver) (MIN ½ TON, NO S-10, RANGERS, ETC.). Trucks must be 2wd only, 4 wheel drives may be used but one of the driveshaft’s must be removed. MAX 8-lug rear end. 1-tons are allowed, but MUST have single rear wheels. (NO DUALLIES) Vans can be a MAX of 1 ton, single rear wheels. CAGE: Safety bars are HIGHLEY Recommended and should include padding. You MUST have a bar, chain, or wire from the roof to the cowl in the center of the window, MAX of 2 bars, wires or chains NO wider than 3”. All bars can be a MAX of 3” round or 3”x3” square. You are allowed 4 vertical bars and they may be welded or bolted to the frame, the front 2 can be no further forward than the firewall in the STOCK location, the rear bars MUST be behind the driver’s seat no more than 6” behind seat, on Standard cab trucks MUST remain inside the cab. A roll over bar is allowed behind the driver seat only (roll over bar may extend above the roof of the vehicle, but must be at a 90 degree angle from the door bars – do not angle forward or back!). NO front or rear kickers. You are allowed to have 2 door bars (on each side), 2 seat bars, 1 dash bar, 4 vertical bars, 1 rear bar, and 1 roll over bar. ALL cage components must be in the interior of the truck/bed besides the roll over bar, not inside the door structure. Gas tank protectors/mounts (if located in bed) may be welded or bolted to safety cage and to frame only, may have 2 vertical support bars welded/bolted to frame. MAX 3” round tube or 3”x3” square tube, No excessive protectors/mounts, Gas Tank protectors/mounts may not be no bigger than 6” bigger than gas tank/fuel cell. Gas tank protectors/mounts MAY NOT contact bed of truck on fresh trucks or go past the rear axle of truck. ** OFFICIALS DESCISION IS FINAL ON CONSTRUCTION AND SAFETY! ** Body: Tail gate can be welded, wired or chained shut. ALL doors can be welded, wired, or chained shut. Bumper can be stock automotive appearing bumpers and can be loaded, (If bumper is homemade it MUST have a STOCK bumper skin on it)(IF HOMEMADE AND DEAMED UNSAFE YOU WILL BE ASKED TO CUT IT OR REMOVE IT) You may run MAX of 5 strands of wire, or chain from core support to bumper, Wire may NOT be attached to hood. MAX height – 32” / MIN height – 15” on bumpers, measured at bottom of bumper. NO trailer hitches! If you do not run rear a bumper, the tail gate MUST be dropped over to cover the frame rails. Hood may be bolted, wired, or chained down in 6 places with a MAX of 1" bolts with MAX of 3” washer ¼” thick, and MUST have a MIN of 12” hole in hood. Bed may be welded or bolted to cab NOT BOTH. You may have up to 12 bed bolts, MAX of 1” bolts with 3” washer ¼” thick. Engine: Engine Cradles, Distributor protectors, Transmission protectors are allowed.
