Dr. Lee Ann Woolery, Community Arts Specialist with University of Missouri Extension, will visit Linn County on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 6:30-8 PM at Suzie Q’s Restaurant (formerly known as Zach’s) in Marceline. The public is invited to this special program. Woolery has extensive experience working with rural communities in developing arts programs that support economic development. Woolery’s successes in generating community involvement around cultural and arts programs have drawn national interest due to the effectiveness in building the quality of life that invites young professionals to the charm of rural Missouri. Linn County has a rich arts history. Nationally known artists including Walt Disney and Nora Othic are but a few who have called the county home. Linn County was also chosen during Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal Works Progress Administration (WPA) for the mural, “Contemporary Life in Missouri” by artist, Joseph Meert.
