MEDIA ALERT-FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TUESDAY, 30 SEPTEMBER, 2014 NEHAWU PRESS BRIEFING ON THE UPCOMING PUBLIC SERVICE DELIVERY CAMPAIGN MARCHES AND THE REOPENING OF PUBLIC SERVICE WAGE NEGOTIATIONS NEHAWU invites members of the media to a press conference, that will be convened by the union on Wednesday 01st October 2014; at Parktonian Hotel, Braamfontein, Johannesburg at 12h00 am. The press conference will be used, to announce the details of the provincial service delivery marches ,to take place on the 03rd of October 2014 and to present and explain the public service wage demands after the expiry of a three year wage agreement. As a key role player in both the public and private health sectors, the union has been deeply alarmed by the deterioration of services in the public health departments of various provinces. We are on record, as not only being seriously concerned with the ongoing health crisis in the country, but also in our commitment to lead a progressive agenda with coalition partners towards transforming the health sector as a whole. Recently we have seen the escalation of food, fuel and electricity prices. Workers wages are not keeping up with these increases and we expect the upcoming round of public service wage negotiations to address that anomaly. The Press Conference will be addressed by NEHAWU President Cde Mzwandile Makwayiba, 1st Deputy President Cde Mike Shingange, 2nd Deputy President, Cde Nyameka Macangca, National Treasurer, Cde Kgomotsho Makuphola General Secretary Cde Bereng Soke and Deputy General Secretary Cde Zola Saphetha. The details of the press conference are as follows: • DATE : Wednesday 01 October 2014 • TIME : 12h00midday • VENUE : Parktonian Hotel, Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
