MEET THE CREW: This is the man behind the lens on The MV Sam Simon. Through his eyes weve been able to share with you the extremes of Operation Icefish – from the beauty of Antarctica to the horror of the illegal gillnets that cause its devastation. Hes shared some thoughts with us that wed like to share with you. *Name: Hello! My name is Jeff Wirth. *Position: Photographer onboard the Sam Simon *Country of Origin: I am from the Pacific North West, USA. *Previous job: When I am not doing media work on Sea Shepherd campaigns, I am traveling abroad doing photo and video work for other campaigns for a handful of social justice oriented organizations. *Previous Sea Shepherd campaign: This is my second campaign with Sea Shepherd.I was a camera operator onboard the Sam Simon for Operation Relentless *Why is Operation Icefish important to you: Operation Icefish is a crucial campaign, not only because this is a first of its kind for Sea Shepherd, but also because the wildlife of Antarctica depend on it. Being onboard and documenting the crew of the Sam Simon pull up 25KM of gill-net per line, and witnessing the amount of wildlife that these nets kill, recklessly destroying precious deep sea ecosystems, and knowing that no one else is down here doing what Sea Shepherd is doing, I am certain that Operation Icefish is bringing much deserved justice to a lawless environment. #SeaShepherd #OperationIcefish
