MEETING NOTICE: Your Town Council will hold its next general meeting on Tuesday evening at 7:30pm.Thanks to Deputy Mayor Atrill for chairing the meeting while I am away at Minerals Roundup in Vancouver. Here are a few of the topics Council will be discussing: - Continued discussion regarding a resident noise complaint about the logging truck parked on 12th Avenue. - Discussion of whether to adopt the BC Governments Healthier Choices in Vending Machines in BC Public Buildings Policy for vending machines in town facilities. - Discussion about a letter from Canada Post in response to the letter from the Town last November requesting assurance that the Smithers Post Office will remain open and maintain its current service model. - Presentation by TransCanada Pipelines regarding the proposed Coastal Gaslink Pipeline. - Presentation by Bulkley Valley Search and Rescue. - Three development variance applications: 1) Setback variance for four-plex development at 3415 Third Ave across from Chandler Park; 2) Setback variance for homes in new Ambleside subdivision to allow for minor change in architectural details; and 3) Height variance and setback variance for a shop/carriage house at 3648 Broadway Ave. - Staff report recommending Council approve applying for funding from Northern Development Initiative Trust to support the 2015 Storefront Spruceup program. - Staff analysis of Smithers 2015 taxable property assessment roll from BC Assessment. - Adoption of Councils new Procedures Bylaw, which, among other tweaks, will move the start time of future Council meetings from 7:30pm to 6:30pm.
