MEETING THIS MORNING WITH A TEACHER FROM BURKE COUNTY SCHOOLS WHOM IS ENTHRALLED WITH FONTA FLORA. ALBEIT, I DO NOT HAVE TO ELABORATE,,,FOR THOSE OF US THAT LOVE HISTORY FONTA FLORA WAS not an African American Agriculture village lost under Lake James!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please spread the word and if you love the Fonta Flora Brew..please tell these boys that is WRONG! Parts of the original land still exits...all is not lost....men and women in this area predominantly white where working to build a life in Fonta Flora....Haney was readying his horses for racing or pruning his apple trees....When gardens were harvested ..corn laden in the root cellars...my Great Great Grandfather was readying himself for deer and bear season... White Men by the name of Thomas, McGimpsey, Corpening, Fullwood,& Rutherford now there slaves have their names in Burke for sure...also, here were Wises, McTaggarts, Jaynes, Tates, Pearsons Moores....I could go on but these families that were not African American.... There is a wonderful factual book out called Fonta Flora, by Helen Norman and Pat Page.....our history of this county is getting more construed by the day. Please care enough to make a difference, for your heritage, and future generations sake.
