MEETING TONIGHT. We are going to discuss the Officers Report regarding the Horwich Loco Works Planning application to formulate our response in next weeks planning application committee meeting. A few of us have been through it and it appears to be a complete and utter stitch for Horwichers. The developers have used the tried and tested excuse of ‘Viability’ to wriggle out of their Section 106 responsibility (this is the £funds they offer in compensation to mitigate the effects the development and 5000 extra people will have on the local community; Education, Health, Sports and Recreation etc.) and BMC Regeneration Department has allowed them to do so. Just a taste of what they have said. Only enough money for two classroom/form sizes (60 Children) for the whole of Horwich (we expect an extra 800-1200 school age children). Plus, no money for additional Sports or recreation facilities outside the development.
