MEMBER REQUEST - Hi, Im looking for some advice about awkward mothers of the bride. My partner and I are planning on getting #married next year. Hes from Scotland and Im from the south of England so we always knew that some of our family would have to travel no matter what venue we picked. I gave venues around my home a fair chance and invited my mum to come and see them with me. In the end though my partner and I both fell in love with a #weddingvenue up in Scotland. Ever since my mum has been awful! She says shes disappointed in me, that Im favouring my partners family over her and that she wishes I never got her involved. Ive tried to be fair and Ive invited her to come and see the venue with us before we book but she doesnt want to come. My mum is really important to me as we lost my dad a few years ago and shell be walking me down the aisle in his place but I also suffer terribly from depression which is made worse by her at the moment. Im getting to the point where I feel like threatening her that she cant be included if she acts this way as its making me ill but it would break my heart to have to go that far. Has anyone else been in a similar situation and know any ways I can try to fix this?
