MEMO FROM: HEAD OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS TO: ALL STUDENTS DATE: FRIDAY, 26TH July, 2013 SUBJECT: OFFICIAL COMMUNICATION LANGUAGE Article 7 (2) of the Kenyan constitution, 2010 stipulates the manner of communication as follows “The official languages of the Republic are Kiswahili and English”. From the above it is clear that our constitution appreciated that there are over 42 tribes in Kenya. However, to enhance harmony then there was a need of using two languages when communicating in offices, official functions, public places, among others. The colleges, therefore, are not an exception. To that end, the college management hereby directs all students to adhere to the official communication language, Kiswahili and English, while in the vicinity of the college. All are urged to appreciate that the practice will help:- • Answer examination questions with clarity • Enhance our communication skills, which will be a plus plus when attending an interview • Discover your talent in communication. You never know what could come out of you • Enhance harmony and cooperation of all the Kenyan communities. • Kill the tribal cocoons which have negatively affected our country Let’s appreciate the directive as it’s for the general good of ourselves and the college. Together we can do more!
