MEMORABLE SUPPORTING CHARACTERS AND VILLAINS Dickie Eklund. We all know of Christian Bales immense talent. Though sometimes underappreciated, the Academy Awards Oscar, is a huge deal (dont take our word for it, just ask past-winners born outside of the U.S.- Roberto Benigni, Marion Cotillard, Jean Dujardin, to name a few). Many of us were begging the Academy to give Bale a very deserving Oscar after plenty of amazing performances. He finally got one thanks to his interpretation of Dickie Eklund, a character based on the life of the man of the same name in the film THE FIGHTER. His performance was the best part of the movie by far, adding tension to every sequence he was in; and thats saying a lot since the film was categorized as the Best Sports Movie of the Decade.
