MEMORANDUM CIRCULAR N2013-033 To: All Members Fr: President Wanda T. Teo THRU: NAITAS Secretariat RE: NSO Accreditation DATE: June 21, 2013 Yesterday, our members were at NSO Office and had a problem regarding their accreditation. Their applications were not accepted because according to NSO, they were not yet informed by the DFA’s Memorandum regarding accreditation. And some of our members who are NSO Accredited were there to file their papers as June 30, 2013 is the deadline, but their papers were not accepted even if it is only June 20 yesterday. This morning, I had a phone patch conversation with National Statistics Office (NSO) Director Lourdes Hufana through a live telecast radio program of Erwin Tulfo. We were able to convey our message to her regarding the accreditation of travel agencies with the NSO and for those who were filing their papers with the NSO that has a deadline until June 30, 2013. Ms. Hufana clarified that those who are NSO accredited and have ID’s can still transact business with NSO until June 30, 2013. She also said that they were not aware of the DFA’s Memorandum regarding accreditation. It was only this morning when she called DFA Usec Jaime Ledda that she was informed of the said memorandum. NSO will only accept applications for accreditation if you have already the DFA Accreditation. Therefore, please secure first the DFA Accreditation before you process your accreditation with the NSO. The period of accreditation given by the DFA is from July 2013 until June 2014. According to Ms. Hufana, whatever the period given by the DFA, they will follow it. This coming 3rd GMBM on July 12, 2013 at Best Western Plus Antel Hotel, Makati, again, we will invite Atty. Roussel Reyes of DFA Passport Division and NSO Director Lourdes Hufana to clarify these matters regarding accreditation. This is our best chance to ask directly all our concerns with these Agencies and to update us on the requirements and new guidelines. I do hope that even with this short notice, many will be able to attend as this is very important for all of us. Our NAITAS Secretariat will be issuing a circular on this soon. Thank you.
