MEMORY #15 - PERIOD 1940-70 I dont remember the year 1940; all I know is that that is the year that I was born and WWII started, and believe me, I had nothing to do with it! I also know that my father who was a fairly new Bahai together with fifteen other Bahai families including a future Hand of the Cause, Abul-Qasim Faizi, answered the call of the Guardian (Chronicled in part in Anghaye Bagha V Ghafe Vafa) and went pioneering to Iraq between 1941 and 1942. Most of the pioneers were forced to leave Iraq before the war was over, but Mr. Faizi was promised a job in Bahrain. He left for Bahrain with his family and continued his correspondence with Dad all through these years. He knew calligraphy quite well and his letters which often began with a beautiful passage from the Hidden Words adorned the different rooms in the house, and Dad often shared their beautiful content with the family. Dad missed his incomplete pioneering adventure but around 1950 became a member of the Teaching & Pioneering Committee and devoted all his extra time in assisting the plight of pioneers and would be pioneers. Some people just dumped their stuff and their pending affairs on him and took off to their pioneering post, and at some point, Dad had to hire two employees to assist in settling their affairs and straighten out their finances... and he began creating a database of each and every pioneer and his family, their pioneering post, occupation, etc. and sent the complete report to the Guardian shortly before He passed away. But he got the most joy out of the letters and notes that he got from Mr. Faizi whom I had not met up through this point. I will get back to the story and how and when I met Mr. Faizi in a later episode.
