MENDOCINO COAST MARITIME TRAFFIC: 1 OF LARGEST SHIPS WEVE SEEN OFF COAST LAST NIGHT FISHING VESSEL DYNAMIK MIGHT BE VISIBLE TODAY Due to slow Hughesnet speeds (typical) we didnt get to post about a MONSTER container ship in the sea lanes off Point Arena - easily one of the biggest vessel weve ever logged. Were talking about the 1,003 United Kingdom(London)-flagged container ship EVER LEARNED. This monster of a vessel left Beilun, China for the 14 day trans-Pacific trip to Los Angeles and is now on its way to the Russian port city of Nakhodka - located about 53 miles east of Vladivostok. The behemoth has some interesting sister ships: Theres the Ever Superb, the Ever Lissome, the Ever Legend and the Ever Peace. The largest container ship ever built is the 1,300 China-flagged container ship CSCL Globe that has a 192 beam (width) and can carry, get this, 19,000 forty-foot containers ! VESSEL SHOULD BE VISIBLE TODAY Headed north today, close to the coast, is the 60 USA-flagged fishing vessel DYNAMIK. Not much info on her only that she left San Francisco Saturday @ 2:24 pm. No destination was given - but they did have a pretty picture of her on Marinetraffic.
