DIRECTORS BIO: Susan Koenen (1974, The Netherlands) is a documentary filmmaker from the age of 25. In her work, Susan has the strong urge to show non-famous people who deserve to be famous. Most of her films are about personal courage: IK BEN EEN MEISJE! (I AM A GIRL!, 2010), about a girl in a boys body, LAURA & ANNE 4 EVER (2008), about the strong bond between two friends, one of whom dies of leukemia. MERLIJN EN DE RODE APPEL (THE RED APPLE, 2013), about a boy who finds his own solution for not fitting into the school system. DIT BEN IK (ALL OF ME, 2012) about a clairvoyant girl who is going to have to open up to her best friend Emma if she wants a mature friendship to grow. Piet, the main character of HET WILDE WESTEN (THE WILD WEST, 2010) created a very special lurking place for underprivileged children in a multicultural neighborhood in the West of Amsterdam and works hard to try to keep the children on the right path. Famous directors Heddy Honigmann and John Appel were both the producers and advisors of THE WILD WEST.
