MESSAGE #14 from this eBay discuSsion board: Re: Have Sellers ever grouped together to Petition EBay w/ Grievances? Seems things are formatted against the seller in some ways. Power is in Numbers, so Im curious if sellers have ever banded together to force the company to listen? In 2008, at the sellers and stockholders meetings in Chicago, there were disenchanted sellers picketing outside the meetings, and disgruntled sellers inside as well. CEO Donahoe called all those who did not agree with the policies, Noise. That is the corporate mindset of eBay these days. vintageista wrote: Perhaps we should all buy at least one share of eBay stock and show up enmass at a stockholders meeting...camp out on their lawn, might be more effective! Sorry, but that wont work either. eBay itself has the largest voting block of stocks. Most of the rest is in the hands of Money Market Funds, and the managers of them do not vote their shares. The board will not take action unless there is a big drop in stock value, which is not likely. eBays stock prices are mostly driven by how PayPal is performing, not the auction site. So while there may be occassional dips in the stocks perfomance, it probably wont be enough for fund managers to rate it as a Sell, and cause the prices to plummet.
