::MESSAGE FOR THE WEEK!:: ...ONLY ONE THING TO DO... Mary has chosen what is better and it will not be taken away from her Luke 10:42b. The story of Mary and Martha offers an interesting illustration of lifes proper order. Although there are several ways to interpret this story, we can improve our efficiency when we grasp what Jesus was trying to teach the two Sisters and us. Martha wanted to be at her best for this meal. Jesus had been away for some time & this was an important homecoming. Many of us have no sympathy for Marys sitting. It looks to us like idle shirking. But if there is time to do one thing, then the one thing; that is needed is the thing to do, and when there are countless items on our agenda, we do well to center down in Christ as the first business of the day. The Christian life is the very reverse of spreading ourselves wide and thin. There will be time for all things, and all our living will be timely when our souls are inwardly concentrated on the inner presence. This is true Christian simplicity and we move onto the souls highway when we tell Christ that first of all we want to know Him and let Him live in us. This is not mystical abstraction reserved for visionaries and impractical saints. It is lifes highest goal for ordinary servants of the Lord. This is the stuff of everyday assignment for modest men and women. All life for the Christian is for singling the eye to Kingdom service.
