Title: The Prayer (Jesus Is The Only Mediator) Text: Daniel 9:3= And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: INTRODUCTION: How much time do you spend talking with somebody on your cellphone? And how much money do you spend for your load? Maybe if you are talking with your sweetheart, or with your bestfriend or with your love ones it will take you a lot of time and a lot of money also, am I correct or am I wrong? Now!! I have another question in prayer how much time do you spend? Talking with your sweetheart or with your bestfriend or love ones you can give your time, a lot of time, how about talking to GOD? Can you give your time also? A lot of time? 1= Have you heard the story about the 85-year-old man who was arrested for praying? You probably have. That’s the story of Daniel, an elderly Jewish resident in Babylon sentenced to death for faithfully talking to GOD (Dan.6). Although the prayer that sent Daniel to the lions’ den is his most famous talk with GOD Dan. 6:11 Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God. it wasn’t the only time we see him in prayer. In Daniel 9:3-19, we read an example of how he prayed. Daniel was really a prayerful man of GOD. 2)= What is a prayer? A)= Prayer is our direct line with heaven. Prayer is a communication process that allows us to talk to GOD! He wants us to communicate with HIM, like a person to person phone call. B)= Prayer is used to intercede for others, (1 Tim.2:1) First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be made for all people. C)= Prayer is to worship GOD. (Psalm 99:5)-Exalt the LORD our GOD! Bow low before his feet, for he is holy.. D)= Talking to GOD for our needs. (Matthew 6:11)- Give us this day our daily needs. E)= Talking to GOD for the forgiveness of our sins. (Matthew 6:12)- and forgive us our debts, us we also have forgiven our debtors. 3)=Luke 6:12-In these days he went out to the mountain to pray, and all night he continued in prayer to GOD. During the ministry of JESUS here on earth (3 ½ years) even If he’s so busy, even if he’s so tired he still gives time to talk to the Father because he knows that talking to the Father he will regain his strength that was lost on that day. 4)= Now my dear brethren! My question is, do you have time in prayer? Maybe some of you will answer, I’m tired, I’m busy, I don’t have time, what if GOD will also said I’m busy, I’m tired and He will not control tsunamis, earthquakes, typhoons, volcanoes etc. even for only 5 minutes, can you imagine what will happen? It will be a disaster, millions of people will die, if not all of us!! Why not imitate JESUS my dear brethren, He always give His time in prayer even though he’s tired. John Wesley, Martin Luther, Benny Hinn, Daniel, Jeremiah to name a few they always gave their time in prayer and we have seen that they have that strong faith. Always remember my dear brethren a prayerful Christian is a powerful Christian. 5)= Why is our prayers cannot be heard and answered? A)= Wrong address- I have a friend more than 30 years ago, his name is Pino. He went to the post office one day to send a letter to his father, after one hour I saw him again and I ask him about his letter and he told me that in the post office they did not accept his letter and I ask him let me see your letter? And this is what I saw in the envelope of his letter he had written 5 different addresses, 1 address is for his father and then for his brother and another for his auntie another is for his friend and another for his neighbor, his reason is in the absence of his father the postman can give it to his brother if his brother is not at home they can give it to his auntie, etc. so what happened they did not accept the letter of my friend at the post office. My dear brethren we should not address our prayers to diff. idols because like the letter of my friend Pino it will not be accepted by our GOD. And you see my dear brethren in Exodus 20:4-5 = it is written—You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. V5)-you shall not bow down to them or served them, for I the lord your GOD am a jealous GOD, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children on the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me. This is the only verse in the 10 commandments that have a curse, now my dear brethren I hope that we are all enlightened, our prayers will be in vain if we address our prayers to different idols or we let these idols intercede for us. B)=Because of sins GOD will not listen to our prayers,( hidden sins living in sin, unpardoned sins) Isaiah 59:2—But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your GOD, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear. Because of our sins our prayers cannot reach the destination. C)=Pray with sincerity and humbleness-sincere= honest, humble=respectful.. Matthew 6:7=And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. D)=Forgive those who committed sins against you-Matthew 6:15=but if you not forgive others their trespasses, neither your Father forgive your trespasses. So we must forgive those who commits sins against us so that our sins will be forgiven also on that way our prayers will be answered. E)= After our prayer we should put a stamp, and that stamp is JESUS. John 14:13=And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. Try to send a letter without a stamp and I’m sure it will not reach the destination, so in every ending of our prayer we should always mention the name of JESUS on this way we are sure that our prayer will reach the destination. CONCLUSION: My dear brethren! You have heard already the news about the tsunamis, earthquakes, tornadoes, strong typhoons, wars, famines etc. and many is telling that the judgement day is near, the bible is clear in Matthew 24:6-8= v6-You will hear of wars and rumors about wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. V7) Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines, and earthquakes in various places. V8)-All these are the beginning of birth pains. So what’s happening right now is the beginning of pains and sufferings, so the rumors of the second coming of JESUS is near is not true, the bible is clear. Last October 21, 2011 a certain Harold Camping predicted that it will be the judgement day but you see it’s already August 2013 and we are still here, the bible is clear brethren in Matthew 24: 36- No one knows about the day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the SON , but only the Father knows the end. Brethren what is needed right now are Christians that are ready to pray for what’s happening right now we should not worry about this end of the world that others are telling what we should do is to intercede for what is happening right now and pray for all of those persons that did not yet accepted Jesus as their lord and savior wars, earthquakes, tsunamis, famines , tornadoes it is written in the bible that these things will happen and I encourage each and every one of us to intercede and pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17= Pray without ceasing AMEN!
