MESSAGE TO BONAIRE POLICE: I know that this site is visited by members of the Bonaire Police department & we welcome the crime reports that we are sent. We have read that there is an increase in theft of metals & alloys on the island. Obviously, the thieves are not keeping this, they are selling it for cash. May I respectfully suggest that any such scrap dealers on the island are visited & can account for any scrap that they have. Maybe, bring in a system where all sales of scrap metal must be accompanied by a receipt with details of the seller who has to provide ID to the buyer for his records. Any merchant that does not comply could then have his goods confiscated. Secondly, one of our regular contributors has sent us a link that gives information on how to further prevent metals & alloys from being stolen. Maybe you would like to copy this link & print off some copies for any would-be victims of metal theft: Many of our contributors & viewers have their ears to the ground & we are happy to share any information with you that may be useful in the fight against crime.
