MESSAGE TO YOUNG PEOPLE: I have generally had running battles [on my fb page] with our YOUNG generations for their lack of proper approach, respect, manner of addressing older folks when they wish to chat. This is an example of a discussion thread I had with a young man on my wall whose age should be averagely 20-25 years: YOUNGMAN: Evenin dude waddup 2day. Me: Mr. Ajayi who is a dude? Me: I think when elders accept you young men as friends on fb, it is degrading to address a man well over 50 years and definitely not your mate as dude. Where is your home training? YOUNGMAN: Am sorry SIR nd thanks for the correction SIR. YOUNGMAN: Am sorry SIR nd thanks for the correction SIR. Me: It is well! YOUNGMAN: Thanks for under standin Sir so how is the day job sir. There are courteous ways to address SENIORS. It is absolutely imperative that you apply wisdom and understand the dynamics of "greetings" and “proper ways to address” those who by every standard are your biological seniors on your page. Do not take it for granted that accepting being your friend on fb automatically makes you their equal. I have deleted many a youth on my fb page from the manner and approach they present their “first greeting”. It matters much as this may open or shut doors of opportunity. To know more on this issue and other similar trends that may hinder your business relationships inadvertently: there are books on general etiquette in the market that can be of great help. Read them!
