MFUNDI Vundla plans to take his loyal fans into the future with the New Generations The first episode of the SABC1 soapie, now titled Generations The Legacy , returns to the small screen tonight in its old time slot. It starts two years after the last episode ended! Although Mfundi wouldn’t say much about the new Generations , he promised Daily Sun it would be very entertaining. “I’m very happy that Generations is coming back on air and audiences can expect great entertainment. I hope they can work with us and embrace the new show,” he said. Connie Ferguson and Rapulana Seiphemo, who play the roles of Karabo and Tau, will be returning to the soapie. When asked about the new storyline, Mfundi said: “I don’t have much to say other than that it will be a continuation of the old series. “We don’t want to be explaining what happened to the 16 cast members so we will be fast forwarding two years. We are not starting from where it left off.” Generations recently went off air for the first time in 20 years, with youth drama Skeem Saam moving from the 6.30pm time slot to 8pm. Mfundi and his team needed time to come up with a way to continue the show after 16 actors were fired. Many people across Mzansi are excited to see how the producers and writers deal with the sudden disappearance of 16 characters. Actors who will be featured in the soapie include Manaka Ranaka, who will play Lucy, Denise Zimba returning as Mary, Moopi Moothibeli as Smanga and Ronnue Nyakale, who is back as Cosmo. Catch New Generations on SABC1 (DStv channel 191) at 8pm tonight.
