MH17: The continued fighting around the crash site is a deliberate ploy to ensure the Russian backed militants and their Russian suppliers have sufficient time to sterilise the site, and get their stories in order. Australians are disgusted at the shooting down of the plane and the subsequent actions by Russian militants and sympathisers. This is evidenced by the strong support for Tony Abbott’s decisive actions. Abbott has climbed back to equal Shorten in the preferred PM stakes, not that polls really matter this far out from an election. The west must stand up to Putin, and not by misled by the bleeding heart brigade who would see a negotiated deal, that would leave Putin strong at home and abroad. Obama and Kerry’s failure to address the Russian aggression in the Ukraine led to the shooting down. Yes, it may well have been an accident, but the weapon would not have been supplied had Obama stood up to Putin. The UN must continue to find resolutions that demand a ceasefire and an end to Russian support for the thugs. Those Ukrainians who see themselves as Russians can be transported to their glorious motherland. Unfortunately for Putin, that would leave the valuable land still in the hands of Ukraine. France, Germany and Britain are hesitant to stand up to Putin due to their dependence on Russian investment, raw materials and gas, and the market Russia provides for Germany’s finished goods. Domestic issues may well provide an unsatisfactory solution internationally.
