MHA applied for a grant through a Federal Emergency Management Agency fire prevention and safety initiative and, in August, received $363,672 that will go toward educating MHA residents on fire safety. A portion of that money will be used to retrofit 472 electric stoves with safety elements in several of the authority’s buildings, including Adrean Terrace, Chancellor Apartments, Perretta Twin Towers, Marino-Ruggerio, Hamilton Street and one building at the F.X. Matt complex, authority officials said.
