MHJC Sport We are heading to the end of term 3 and have had some great results. The most recent of which are the following ; Cross Country: Ahmad Qasimi (Year 8 boys) represented Mission Heights Junior College at the South Eastern Zone Cross Country Championship and placed 5th out of 64 runners. He was selected for the South Eastern Zone team that competed in the Auckland championship. Ahmad once again did really well and was placed 21st in Auckland. This was a race where he competed against 130 runners across Auckland. Well done Ahmad Aims Games: It was the first time that we took teams to Aims games. We took a Football team and a Netball team. The students had a great time and we had good results over the five competition days: Boys Football : Played: 9 Won: 2 Draw:2 Lost: 5 Girls Netball: Played: 7 Won: 4 Draw: 0 Lost: 3 Thank you to all the parents for all the support leading up and during the games. Also a big thank you to Ms. Trudi Wigg, Ms. Sarah Baker and Mr. Neil Penfold for spending the week with the teams. Also a special thank you to Mr. Adams who helped out with fitness trainings in the mornings for the last two terms. SEZ Basketball; Both our Junior boys and girls Basketball teams competed in the South Eastern Zone Basketball tournament. Boys Team; Played: 5 Won: 2 Draw: 0 Lost: 3 Girls Team: Played: 7 Won: 6 Draw: 0 Lost: 1 The girls lost one game during the pool rounds against Hillary Intermediate and qualified for the semi finals. In the semi final they played against Farm Cove Intermediate and won 13-11. As they went to the final they were facing Hillary Intermediate again. Our girls showed great determination and won the final. They finished as South Eastern Zone Champions and will be playing in the Auckland wide Inter zone competition on 21 October 2014. Well done. Senior Volleyball: Our Volleyball season has just started and we wish our teams the best of luck. Sports Coming up: Touch Athletics Cricket Thank you to all the staff, coaches, managers and players that are working really hard. Also thank you to all the support from the parents.
