MIAMI MINUTE | Alchemist Amidst the madness of Lincoln Road in South Beach, there is a stunning oasis of calm, a temple of design and beauty. The brainchild of Roma and Erica Cohen, Alchemist occupies two floors of the award winning transformation of a formerly sad parking garage by international architects Herzog de Meuron. For the ground floor retail space, the Cohens commissioned architect Rene Gonzalez who wrapped the interior space in Styrofoam to create a series of angular spaces insulated from the sound of the street. Zaha Hadid created a massive chartreuse zigzag installation of seating right down the middle that looks like a lightning bolt of color. And there’s a fifth floor aerie that overlooks the Miami skyline and Biscayne Bay that serves as an atelier for by-appointment collection viewings and fittings. Finally, the proprietors have curated an eclectic and stunning collection of fashion, beauty, art, limited editions and lifestyle items. Among the brands are Rick Owens, Gareth Pugh, Cire Trudon, Givenchy, Celine, Alaia, signed books by artist Damien Hirst, and even a cooler of juices from Jugofresh. Now, that’s fresh. beautyforrealhq.tumblr/post/74492548425/miami-minute-alchemist-amidst-the-madness-of #miamiminute #sobe #southbeach #lincolnroad #design #fashion
