Muse and inspiration to husband Rick Owens, sought-after stylist and celebrated fashion figure, her latest collaboration with jeweller and long-term friend Loree Rodkin - Hunrod - confirms what we already knew: she is one cool customer. Ive always done this - Ive always had lots of rings and bracelets, but I hate jewellery that is traditional, all perfect diamonds, Lamy told us when we met her at Dover Street Market, where the collection has launched. Im more into things like rough stones - I like things to look like they are a part of you. Lamy practices what she preaches. Her arms are rarely seen without an army of bangles and her hands are dripping with rings from various decades - her teeth are even bejewelled in gold and diamonds. People always ask where Im from, but I prefer to show it, I like adding a tribal element, she said. Subconciously, I think that wearing jewellery makes me feel free. The tribal aesthetic of which she talks is very evident in the collection that she has created with her friend. Taking Rodkins signature long, finger-armour silhouettes and fusing them with Lamys eye for organic materials, the resulting collection has a talismanic charm to it. We use bone and crystals and source everything organically, said Rodkin. The necklaces look like they are a tribal vest when layered together while the rings look like theyve just been dug up. Just like all true treasures.
