MILLION MAN MARCH: Massive show of NUMBERS as JUBILEE tells supporters to GET READY By Dikembe Disembe It is all systems go as the ICC trial of President Uhuru Kenyatta gets nigh. In what may shake the whole foundation of the International Criminal Court building, and the seismic waves be felt from Ouagadougou in the western capital of Burkina Faso to the nearby restive city of Mogadishu in the Shabaab lands of Somalia, the Nairobi city Jubilee machine is gearing up for our home-grown version of the Million Man March – a historical replay of the 1965 civil rights and equality march organized by that great Muslim teacher, Louis Farrakhan, and attended by a 70-year old mzee who gave me a Black Man’s Bible in my sojourns in the West. What is self-evident of these ICC cases is that a great section of the Kenyan population want them to end. A great section does not want a sitting president and head of a sovereign nation to be holed up in a foreign capital with morning prayer rituals by a group of politicians who neither love God nor ‘truly’ worship Him on those lonely judicial pavements entering the theatre of justice. A great many people, patriots of the Jubilee year, want the ICC to be damned! Others, like yours truly, wish Bensouda an earlier holiday in Maasai Mara or the Okavango river. Thing is, in some events under the sun, ‘justice’ is injustice. The ICC cases has got so many casualties that they just need to end. Truth be told, it is the ICC cases which took away Raila Odinga – a man among many whom the design of this country (as it is today) easily get attributed to. Everything has some end. Yesterday did a host of MPs rally behind the president, with Senator Mike Sonko calling for a million-man (and woman) protest over the continued insistence by the ICC that President Kenyatta has a case to answer at the court, despite the AU stance against institution criminal proceedings against a sitting head of state. The more things get elephant here at home, the more the same things get buffalo at the ICC. As we show our bellicosity and disdain for the everything Bensouda, the world mother of justice is also tightening her ropes over the president. Already, she has indicated she wants the trial chamber which excused President Uhuru from attending all sittings at the ICC to reverse their ruling bearing in mind the unfortunate developments at the Appeals chamber which legally ‘warned’ Ruto of absenteeism from his proceedings. “The accused is not just a partial observer of the case . . .” read part of the judges’ ruling. Back to the Million Man March. Can it work? Can mandarins in the Jubilee rank and file organize a mountainous public protest that will convince the United Nations Security Council that President Uhuru’s trial at the Hague threatens both national and regional security? You see, Westgate was not enough. It was sad that ‘only’ 70 people, or so perished. Not enough! Not so many ‘superior races’ were killed in the attack. Even the ‘white’ widow ‘escaped’, assuming she was part of the ninja assassins in that movie. The Million Man March, if it gets successful, and the numbers are not merely ‘massaged’ like Diana Kethi Kilonzo revealed around March this year, will be the final reminder to the world that these ICC cases are, in deed, unwanted here at home! Go for it guys, it is worth it.
