#MIM denied permission for rally in old city area In #Aurangabad All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimin (#AIMIM), the city police have denied permission to its leaders to conduct their first public rally in the old parts of Aurangabad. MIM MLA #Akbaruddin #Owaisi was to address a gathering at Roshan Gate area on Thursday, an area surrounding one of the 52 historical gates in the city. The police have denied the permission citing difficulty in crowd management, vulnerability and narrow roads in the area. Aurangabad commissioner of police Rajender Singh said, Considering the current atmosphere and the security reasons involved, MIM cannot be given permission for conducting a rally of addressing a public gathering at Roshan Gate area. There are fears of stampede as the roads are very narrow and crowd management has always been a challenge. He also said that if MIM requests for permission to conduct their event in a more spacious area, their application may be considered. MIM district president Jawed Qureshi rejected the police reasoning and contended that Congress candidate Nitin Patil and former union minister Ghulam Nabi Azad were given permission to conduct their programmes at the same place during the Lok Sabha election. Sources said after police rejected the permission, MIM is planning to apply for permission to conduct a public address at #Aamkhas grounds on Thursday, where an official announcement of the party candidate would be done. For Aurangabad, the party has roped in senior journalist Imtiaz Jaleel and former minister and a Dalit face in the state politics, Gangadhar Gadhe, for contesting from two constituencies in city.
