MIND THE PHYSICS! Just like many other students, she looked - TopicsExpress

MIND THE PHYSICS! Just like many other students, she looked forward to her graduation day. She worked hard when she was in school just to appear on the graduation list. Ofcourse her parents had warned and begged her not to ashame them. She had been told not to be like many students who join university but never graduate. Having cracked her books hard, she finally appeared on the list and the next stressing thing was how she would dress up on the D-day. She spent weeks window shopping just to identify the shop with the best attires. Luckily she landed on a nice dress which was fairly priced. The next thing to look for was shoes. My my my…she walked around boutiques but she couldn’t find the pair of shoes she was looking for. She tried to consult her friends about where she could find the shoe but still all was in vain. She gave up on it and settled for a simple shoe. One day as she was walking in town, she realized that there was a shop selling shoes in a building near the old taxi park. Although she had already given up on shoes, she decided to check it out just in case. On entering she found that there were a number of Chinese shoes but her shoe was still missing. Disappointed, she turned back without saying a single word. The shop keeper realized that the customer had not got what she wanted so he shouted, “NYABO TOGENDA. MBULILA EKYOYAGALA NKYI KUFUNIRE.” (Don’t go back madam. Just tell me about what you want and I look it up for you). On hearing that, KOMUHANGI turned back and said that she had looked for a pair shoe for weeks but all in vain. She added that she had watched an American singer Beyonce Knowles on T.V putting on such a shoe so also she dreamt of appearing like that. On hearing that, the shop attendant said that he could get the shoes. He asked KOMU to wait for a few minutes. In a spell, the middle aged man came back with two pairs of shoe in his hands. On spotting them, Komu screamed so loudly. Her dream had finally come true. She analyzed them and settled for the black pair which had a Seven inch high heel. She didn’t waste any time bargaining so she paid whatever she was asked. Days ran very fast and the D-day approached. Ofcourse her parents travelled from the village to witness as their daughter graduates. That morning, she dressed up in her attires not forgetting the gown and she was looking extremely hot. They entered the waiting car and drove off to the university. On arriving at the campus, they discovered that cars were not allowed to reach the graduation grounds. The driver parked the car at the gate and they had to walk for over 200 metres to get to their seats. With her parents on the sides, KOMU started walking. At first, it was easy but within a short time, the legs started becoming heavy. So she hustled to walk in the high shoes. After about 50 metres, it became too much and she couldn’t support herself. Suddenly, she lost balance and feel on her mother PETRONIYA. Her mum supported her back and asked her to walk again. On taking another stride, she again fell down. Being a Mukiga man, the Dad shouted, “MBIHI ORIKUFAKYI? WAYANAMA KABIRI KONKA TORAHURIRA. TOYIHAMU OBUZIRE BWE NGEITO OKATAMBURA GYE. Literally asking the daughter why she was suffering. That Komu should remove the shoes and walk properly. On hearing that, the mum objected and said, “HOBWE MWANA WANGYE TUHINGANE” (lets exchange our shoes). So the mum put on her high heeled shoes and the daughter put on the mother`s flat shoes. Luckily, the mum was a thin lady so she managed to balance and walk in the shoes. Apparently, KOMU was a fat girl who didn`t mind about Physics. She forgot that the wider the base, the more the stability. For her the reverse was true. The top was wider than the base resulting into instability thus OKWANAMA (falling). This story illustrates how most of us blunder when it comes to INVESTMENTS. We love accumulating more and living good lives but we fail to understand about what comes first. In my own view, before living that good life, one must first have a stable base. That base can only be achieved by accumulating ASSETS not LIABILITIES.
