MINERS BANK SUPPORTS HAZLETON INTEGRATION PROJECT The Hazleton Integration Project (“HIP”), which was founded in 2011 by Joe Maddon, Manager of the Tampa Bay Rays and a Hazleton, Pennsylvania native, is a nonprofit community organization, dedicated to uniting individuals of many different cultures who call Hazleton, PA their home. The mission of HIP is to provide a physical environment within the city of Hazleton, PA conducive to creating opportunities for economically challenged children to participate in a variety of no-cost or low-cost educational, cultural and athletic activities, fostering trust and respect among the region’s various ethnic cultures. The Hazleton Integration Project purchased the former Most Precious Blood Catholic School building on 4th Street (between Seybert and Hayes Sts.) in Hazleton with money raised from two (2) Maddon organized sports memorabilia auction and dinner events. The community center recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, June 17, 2013. So far, there have been over 400 registrations for planned Summer programs being held at the Hazleton One Community Center. “Miners Bank and its employees are pleased to support this effort and to partner with the Hazleton Integration Project to support unity within our community”, said John Spevak, Executive Vice President/Hazleton Market Manager. John is one of the “Founding” Board Members for the organization and has been serving as its Treasurer since its inception.
