MINI-REVIEW MONDAY: Universal CD / DVD by ANATHEMA - official band page Out now via Kscope One of my favorite concert DVDs of all time! I bought Universal at the gig I attended during Anathemas recent North American tour (September 2013) and watched the following night - and felt as though Id been transported back to the show. Of course, the Universal concert is no ordinary Anathema gig. This nearly 2 1/2 hour set was performed in an outdoor venue in Bulgaria surrounded by ancient Roman ruins, and with an orchestra. The string arrangements blend seamlessly in with Anathemas songs - not just those from the bands past two studio albums, Were Here Because Were Here and Weather Systems, but those from the older releases as well. The sound quality is fantastic, and the cinematography is absolutely breathtaking - crisp, crystalline, and colorful. This DVD is a great way to relive past Anathema concert experiences and (if you only have Anathemas more recent albums) be introduced to their older material / sound. Rating: A+
