MINISTER DIEZANI: HER TURN TO BE PROBED Some few weeks ago, it - TopicsExpress

MINISTER DIEZANI: HER TURN TO BE PROBED Some few weeks ago, it was Oduah’s turn, and in the recent past, Moro was involved in a sort of scam that led to deaths. Presently, it is time for Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke to dance to the music the Senate and the Federal House of Representatives will play for her. The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation spent N10 billion on private jets, and when the Chairman, Committee on Petroleum Resources (downstream), Senator Magnus Abe, demanded for some official documents, they refused to furnish the committee with the documents. Why would they refuse to provide the documents? The question should be directed to the Group Managing Director, NNPC, Andrew Yakubu, who has chosen to hide his sin and the sins of others. Now I know the reason why ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo decided to be the president and also the Minister of Petroleum Resources when he was in power. A lot of fraud is being committed in the oil industry, and when you subject the corrupt Nigerians to questioning, it would result to another time for bribing so as to keep the Nigerian people in the dark. There is no need to blast the President of Zimbabwe, who had called Nigerians corrupt people who would be paid to do some jobs and they would demand for money. President Robert Mugabe, to an extent, is right. However, he is guilty of the same crime he levelled against Nigerians. Are Zimbabweans angels? No. The World Bank President, Jim Yong Kim, has promised to increase the International Development Assistance (IDA) from $45 to $50 billion a year to $70 billion to help the poor. Nigeria has been ranked among top five poor countries, meaning that there are many poor people in Nigeria. India is the poorest country in the world, followed by China and Nigeria, and then Bangladesh and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Nigerians are poor, and Minister Diezani approved N10 billion and it was spent on hiring jets. This is terrible! I urge the Federal House of Representatives to go ahead and probe the minister and her stooges, which has been scheduled to commence on April 28. Why is Andrew Yakubu finding it difficult to provide details of funds expended on aircraft purchases, hiring and maintenance in the last two years, as well as the contract papers in respect of leases or purchase of aircraft? He knows that if he provides them, many a Nigerian will fold their arms across their chests in astonishment, of course. Unfortunately, after any culpable Nigerian is probed, such a person is allowed to leave the office without being punished. The erstwhile aviation minister left the office without being punished. I am sure that when the dust has settled, the Minister of Interior would be shown the way out without him paying dearly for the fraud he had committed. Another probe would commence soon and the Nigerian people are still waiting to see another game being played between politicians and Minister of Petroleum Resources, including the Group Managing Director, NNPC. The level of corruption in Nigeria is unbearable. Certainly, every Nigerian prays for his turn to embezzle public funds and go home unhurt. It is advisable that any person who is found guilty of embezzling public funds or mismanaging funds should be penalized or punished accordingly and it shall serve as deterrent to others. This is the only way forward.
