MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND SANITATION Ebola Update July 15, 2014 • Sixty (60) patients have to date survived the disease, discharged and now back with their families in their various communities. These sixty survivors reported to health facilities early for treatment when they started exhibiting signs and symptoms of Ebola • For the 14th July 2014, a total of 25 samples were received by the Laboratory: Kailahun (7), Kenema (14), Bo (2), Moyamba (1) and Western Area (1). Fifteen (15) of the 25 samples are positive for Ebola, 5 from Kailahun and 10 from Kenema. Five of the remaining samples are negative while results for 5 samples are pending • Eight(8) of the Laboratory pending results yesterday are now Ebola positive while 5 samples are still pending • The cumulative number of Laboratory confirmed cases are 369 and confirmed deaths are 118 • Eighty-five(85) patients are currently admitted at the Kenema and Kailahun Isolation Units • Medical Research Center (MRC) donated 10 drums Chlorine, 100 pieces hand sanitizers, 400x100 boxes of examination gloves, 100x50 surgical gloves, 30 buckets with taps and 30 buckets median to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation as contribution towards the fight against the Ebola Viral Disease • The Sierra Leone Nurses Association based in Los Angeles, California in the United States of America donated twenty-one million, five hundred thousand Leones (Le 21,500,000) to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation to assist in the fight against the Ebola Viral Disease • The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) donated 100 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), face mask and gloves to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation towards to the fight against the Ebola outbreak in the country. • The German Embassy in Sierra Leone has donated fifty thousand Euros to the Ministry of Health and Sanitation through the Sierra Leone Red Cross as their contribution towards the fight against the Ebola disease in Sierra Leone Ebola Viral Disease Situation Report – Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Sierra Leone For more information please contact – District Health Management Team at District level National level - Directorate of Disease Prevention and Control: dpcsurveillance@gmail Mobile:- +23276913000
