MINISTRY OF LANDS AND HOUSING VACANCIES: LAND BOARD MEMBERSHIP Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for Land Board Membership in the respective Land Board for the period 1st April 2014 to 31st March 2017. 1. QUALIFICATIONS A minimum of Junior Certificate (JC). Applications with higher qualifications will have an added advantage. 2. AGE: Between 26 and 65 years. 3. REQUIREMENTS In order to qualify as a candidate for appointment as a Member of any Main Board or Subordinate Land Board, the applicant shall: i. Be a citizen of Botswana, holding a valid identity card issued under the National Registration Act, CAP 01:02 ii. Be a resident of the Tribal Area in respect of which s/he seeks appointment to the Main or Subordinate Land Board. iii. Not be actively involved in party politics. iv. Not have been declared insolvent or adjudged or bankrupt under any law in force in Botswana. v. Not have been sentenced to imprisonment without the option of a fine for any offence, whether in Botswana or elsewhere. vi. Be in good physical condition. 4. COMPETENCIES Candidates who possess competencies such as: Communication Skills, Analytical Skills, focus on delivery, Team Work, Integrity, Leadership skills, etc, will have an added advantage. 5.CORE DUTIES i. Management of land and formulation of strategies to facilitate access and utilization of land for socio-economic development of the country ii. Monitoring land use and development of land within their area of jurisdiction. iii. Developing and monitoring land policies in accordance with the provisions of the Tribal Land Act 1968 Cap (32 20). iv. Administer Tribal Land in trust for the benefit of the citizens of Botswana with specific emphasis on determining and varying tribal land grants and conflict resolution on matters related thereto. 6. ALLOWENCES Members will be paid an allowance of P65, 545.00 or P89, 432.00 per annum for the Sub land Board or Main land Board respectively. 7. APPLICATIONS Applicants should submit their letters of intent, indicating the area applied for, and be accompanied by a Curriculum Vitae (CV), certified copies of educational certificates and national Identity card (Omang) to Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands and Housing, Private Bag 00434, Gaborone or Hand Delivered to Ministry of Lands and Housing, Main Mall, AKD House (Office 240, 2nd floor). 8. Shortlisted candidates shall be interviewed by the Land Board Selection Committee in accordance with the provisions of the Tribal Land Act. However, appointments shall be made by the Minister of Lands and Housing. 9.
