MINUTES OF SWACHCHA BHARAT ABHIYAN MEETING HELD ON 2nd OCTOBER AT NIT,TRICHY Faculty,Staff and Students of NIT, Trichy met at BARN HALL at 9 -30 HRS on 2nd Oct 2014 and discussed action plan for Clean NIT Trichy. Members presented various strategies for implementation on short and long term time frames.The meeting concluded with taking the Sanitation Pledge. Action Plan: 1. External and Internal Cleaning :While external cleaning methods are generally implemented ,action to be taken to organise programmes which will ensure better community living in the campus. 2. Review the items in each department. Remove, service or replace. 3. Condemnation board should follow after a detailed stock verification and the scrap are to be disposed off as per Government norms. 4. Reduce paper use for common notices like PhD viva etc. 5. Dust Bins are to be placed and disposing methodology to be initiated. 6. Housekeeping day every month 7. Japanese model for cleanliness awareness through NIT Calender 8. Convert waste paper into usable product. 9. Driniking water outlet at various locations in the campus. 10. Toilets at various locations in the campus .Toilets at the boundary wall for the use of villagers outside the campus . 11. Smoke free, Drink free, Drug free campus for all residents in the campus in addition to the students.The entire campus is declared as ”No Horn’’ zone.Administration prepermission is required for bursting fire crackers. Cyclists and pedestrians are given preference.Powered vehicles are permitted within the campus with formal prior permission from the Administration. Speed Limit for vehicles is restricted to 10 kms per hour. Emergency requirements are exempted. 12. Old documents in the department are to be properly packed and coded and handed over to the Archive Section to be located in the Library complex for safe custody. 13. Interested students may be utilised for various activities in library, administration etc .Honourorium and certificates may be given to them to bring in the culture of Dignity of Labour. 14. B.Tech projects may be initiated in various topics of pollution, waste water,environment,scrap reuse etc.Innovations are to encouraged. 15. Scanning Center to be set up to safeguard documents and preserve them. 16. Awards to be initiated 17. Awareness seminars are to be organised on environment topics. All departments will be initiating mandatory activities of cleaning and waste disposal. A special jury team will visit the departments on 27th October and will decide the top three clean departments for awards. Implementation Committee consisting of all Deans and Registrar will notify the details required in respect of above points.
