MIRALAX: The day I took my child in for severe constipation, the doctor without even checking anything, handed me a prescription for MiraLAX and said Use this for the next 4 years. Trusting him completely I went and got it and gave it to my child hoping we would find immediate relief. Well after a few days I saw a label attached to the bottle and pulled on the corner, it unfolded into a very long Drug Facts and Warning label. So I read it. It clearly said not to exceed 7 days (at a time). This was the day I realized that my childs health was of no concern to our pediatrician. Now I have learned that a simple solution to toddler constipation is Magnesium Citrate. I only gave MiraLax to my child a few times because I started feeling guilty after learning it was not really safe. We tried everything, from eliminating dairy, increasing fiber, green veggies, enemas, water intake, etc. We later found out that the formula we fed our child, as a baby, caused severe gastrointestinal issues. Why didnt he recommend magnesium in the first place? Why are doctors handing out this junk like candy to our children? judytsafrirmd/spotlight-finally-on-miralax/
