MISSING GIRL LOCATED AND SAFELY RETURNED HOME FAMILY OFFERS WORDS OF THANKS MERCED, CA - Yesterday evening, the family of a missing 12-year-old girl contacted us after speaking with the police. They asked that we post their missing loved ones photo and info in the hopes that Merced County residents would see her and call the police. Today we had received several sightings but nothing came of them until Merced County News Televisions own Misty Cole-Valenzuela saw her. This is what she told us of just how it all went down. At 5:40 pm I was sitting at the bus station waiting for my husband to catch his bus when red a Dodge Neon pulled up next to us. I immediately recognized one of the girls as Hope, the 12-year-old girl missing from Hoover Middle school in Merced. The other missing girl was with her, too and so I called Merced PD dispatch. Both girls then got out of the car driven by a skinny Hispanic male. A heavier set Hispanic male also exited from the passenger side of the car. They gave the girls a hug and got back into their car and left the two girls there. The girls then walked to the back of the bus station and sat on a bench. After about a minute or so they walked back to the front of the bus station. Suddenly, I see the girls start running toward the area where I was and I heard one of them saying Oh my god, its my mom! as they ran toward the back of the parking lot near N street. The other girl told Hope to stay and to go back to her mom as she continued to run south on N street towards 14th street. Hope did come back to her mom and they were talking in the parking lot and standing next to a Chrysler 300. My mom, who was with me, and I decided to go and see if we could locate the other girl. We went around the block but did not see the other girl any longer. Hope was with her mom when the police arrived and after the officer got my statement he asked how I even knew she was missing and I told him I am with Merced County News Television and we posted her info on our site and I was lucky enough to help find her. Later Misty learned that Hopes mother and two friends just happened to be at the bus station hanging up missing posters at the same time Hope and the other runaway girl showed up. We do not know if officers ever located the other girl. From the missing girls family to everyone who shared the post that helped bring her daughter home: We asked you Merced to please help us. You rock! Thanks to you we found our Hope. You came through Merced! God Bless you! We are crying joyful grateful tears. Thank you again, you saved this girls life.
