MISSION TO MOSCOW, PART 4-A: IN AND AROUND KREMLIN/RED - TopicsExpress

MISSION TO MOSCOW, PART 4-A: IN AND AROUND KREMLIN/RED SQUARE The “halls of power” and, of course, Putin’s official residence, are off-limits to the public. But there are plenty of amazing things to behold at The Kremlin/Red Square. The State Armoury Museum is not to be missed!! Admission price of c. $21 US also allows you to enter most of the photogenic cathedrals around the site. Photography, however, is prohibited inside. Bummer. The Museum proper contains a wealth (that’s an understatement if ever there was one!) of historical items, including personal garments of the Czars (also spelled Tsars) and Czaresses. One of these is said to incorporate a thousand diamonds! Yes, a thousand diamonds, plus a ton of other gems. It was good to be the Czar...until 1917/1918, heh-heh! From left, the iconic “onion” domes of St. Basil’s Cathedral; more domes; still more domes!
