MIT Student in University of Kelaniya, has won the first place at the “SAHASAK NIMAVUM” National Invention Exhibition Nuwan Wanninayaka, a second year B.Sc. MIT student of the University of Kelaniya, has won the first place at the “SAHASAK NIMAVUM” National Invention Exhibition – food category (University & Higher Education Section) December 2014 for his “Eggie Sausage”. This event which is the only national level exhibition that is open to the inventors across the country who represent various groups such as school children, university students and professionals as well as all innovators who have been classified under various fields. This was organized with the prime objective of fostering a favorable environment within the country for inventions and providing a unique opportunity to socialize inventions with a commercial potential. The exhibition was held from October 31 to 2nd of November, 2014. He won this award competing with over 200 Sri Lankan innovators who displayed their inventions and innovations under 13 technical fields. Previously, he won the 1st runner-up award and Rs, 200,000 at British Council HSBC Youth Enterprise Awards 2014 for the same invention.
